Classroom Expectations
· There will be no running or horseplay in this classroom. I expect students to act like ladies and gentlemen and respect each
other’s feelings.
· Students should keep their hands off of other peoples’ property.
· You may look at but do not touch the display cases near the windows.
· Please do not touch the flags that are hanging or the items on the bookshelves in the back of the room.
· Please do not go behind the teacher’s desk or open any cabinets without my permission.
· Please do not write on the dry erase white board in the classroom unless you are specifically told to do so.
· Please do not touch or play with the Smartboard. It is an expensive piece of equipment.
· Pick up after yourselves when you leave the classroom. If you find something that does not belong to you, turn it in to me.
· There is to be no gum or food of any kind brought into this classroom without my permission.
· Do not mark or write on the desks or tables. I expect each student to treat this room as if they were visiting a friend’s home!
Students are expected to observe the hands off rule at all times. Remember to practice the Golden Rule!
RESPECT
Every teacher is different and expects various types of behavior from their students. While I think it’s important that students have fun learning, it does not mean the classroom is a place to goof around! I am very strict about many things and I expect each student to display their best behavior. Students are expected to show their teacher respect. If a student misbehaves, I will try to discuss the problem with them and resolve the matter. If trouble persists, I will introduce to the student the possibilities of various punishments such as loss of classroom privileges and rewards. If the student continues to exhibit poor behavior, I will take the student and discuss the situation with the principal. This could lead to an in-school suspension or an after school punishment. If I feel it necessary, I will contact the parents at home or at work to see if they can help solve the problem.
It is each student’s responsibility to fill out his or her agenda every day. Please take the time to read it, check it over, and review it in the evening. It is important that the students organize themselves and establish a successful routine.
I am very strict about my students completing their homework on time!
Assignments are due the day they are assigned. Students are responsible for the any material they have missed. If for whatever reason a student does not finish their homework assignments, I may attempt to notify the parent. Students will NOT be allowed to phone home to get assignments they have forgot. They will be required to use their free time to complete their work. Students who do not finish their work or have lost it will be required to finish it by the end of the day or they could receive a 0%. One of the most important lessons they can learn is to be accountable for their own materials. It’s time for them to begin to grow up and take responsibility for their actions. Of course there are special circumstances which arise such as an illness, a death in the family, etc. in which a student will be given extra time.
